Since 1996, we have stood alongside people seeking safety in Oxfordshire with practical help, trusted advice and a welcoming community.
To mark this milestone, we’re inviting our supporters and friends to celebrate with us. Download our 30 ways to get involved poster and new fundraising pack and find ways to get involved.
In September 2026, Asylum Welcome turns 30.
Over three decades, thousands of people have found support through our services, including our food bank, hardship fund, advice services and Sanctuary Hosting programme. This work has only been possible because of the compassion and solidarity of our community.
Throughout this anniversary year we’ll be celebrating this milestone with our community and reflecting on everything that has been achieved together over the past three decades.
If you would like to be part of the celebrations, you can find 30 ways to get involved here. And if you feel like doing something special, our fundraising pack is a great place to start. It’s full of simple ideas — from taking on a challenge to organising a local event — and we’d love to hear your own ideas too.
One date for the diary: our Annual Supporters’ Meeting and AGM will take place on Thursday 17 September, when we will come together to celebrate the past 30 years and look ahead to the future.

Ways to get involved
If you would like to support Asylum Welcome in our anniversary year, our 30th anniversary fundraising pack is a great place to start. It includes simple ideas and resources to help you take part in a way that feels enjoyable and achievable.
Here are just a few of the ways people are getting involved.
Take on a challenge
Set yourself a personal goal — perhaps a ‘30 for 30’ challenge, a sponsored walk, run, cycle or swim, or taking part in an organised event like the Oxford Half Marathon. Challenges like these can bring people together while raising vital funds.
Organise a local event
A coffee morning, quiz night, bring-and-buy sale or community stall can be a simple and enjoyable way to support Asylum Welcome. Many supporters host events with friends, neighbours, colleagues or their local community.
Share the message of welcome
Use our myth-busting resources to help start thoughtful conversations about people seeking safety and the realities of asylum in the UK. You can also help by sharing our work with friends and family, or by telling others about our 30th anniversary year and the difference our community makes.
Introduce us to your network
Sometimes the most important opportunities begin with a simple introduction. If you have connections with a company, school, trust, faith group, community organisation or local festival that might be interested in supporting Asylum Welcome, we would love to hear from you. Please contact development@asylum-welcome.org.
Everything Asylum Welcome has achieved over the past three decades has been made possible by people who believe in welcome.
As we celebrate this milestone year, we look forward to marking it together — and continuing this work for as long as it is needed.
P.S. Be part of our anniversary film
To mark our 30th year, a local filmmaker has kindly offered to create a short film for Asylum Welcome (pro bono), celebrating the people and community who have shaped the organisation over the past three decades.
If you have volunteered, supported, worked, donated, partnered with us, or been part of Asylum Welcome in any way, we would love to hear your memories. Your stories will help bring this film to life.
Please email comms@asylum-welcome.org if you would like to share a memory or find out how to get involved.
