We are pleased to announce that two existing staff members, Sarah Totterdell and Dr Hari Reed, have been appointed as the new Co-Directors of Asylum Welcome, following an extensive and rigorous external recruitment process.

Hari and Sarah bring a combination of skills and experience to the role.  They impressed the panels with their clear vision for our future and commitment to improving delivery. They will each work three days a week as Director from 1st May.

Sarah joined Asylum Welcome a year ago to lead our resettlement and related services, bringing extensive senior management experience in several organisations, including as Deputy CEO of Women in Prison.

Hari has a PhD in refugee studies and has led the organisation’s policy and advocacy work for over four years at national and local levels. She has made a major contribution to promoting the City and University of Sanctuary schemes, research partnerships, and more fully involving people with lived experience in all that we do.

Welcoming the appointment, outgoing Director Mark Goldring said: “I’m thrilled that the board have, after a comprehensive selection process, appointed Hari and Sarah as a job-share. They bring different and complementary skills that will serve Asylum Welcome well.”

Sarah and Hari will take over from Mark who is retiring after five years at Asylum Welcome and a career spanning more than 25 years.
