Day 6
Jan’s story…
Originally from Oxford, Jan has been an educator for the past 30 years having been a teacher and educational leader in a number of different schools and countries.
Before her current role at Asylum Welcome, she volunteered as an education advisor within the charity. Jan currently runs the Schools Advocacy Project at Asylum Welcome.
The project seeks to support and mentor refugee, asylum seeker and migrant families to help them navigate and engage with the schools their children attend, to increase understanding and develop confidence in supporting their child’s school experience.
A relatively new initiative of Asylum Welcome, the Schools Advocacy Project has so far met with great success and, excitingly, is expanding.
To be continued…
In 2021/22, Asylum Welcome supported 60% more clients than the year before with a wider range of services and a bigger budget than at any time in our history. We couldn’t do it without you. 🧡
As the national environment gets ever tougher for many of our clients and others like them, fleeing violence and persecution in so many countries, it is ever more important that we continue and extend our work.
If you can, please support our appeal today. Thank you for being part of the story.
