Thanks to the kindness and generosity of this community, our Winter Appeal has exceeded all expectations. Together, you have helped raise over £30,000, with a further £12,000 in matched funding — a remarkable achievement and a real boost in these difficult financial times.
This is our most successful Winter Appeal to date. More importantly, it is already making a real and immediate difference in people’s lives.
The money raised is already working hard. It is providing safe places to stay, specialist casework support, English language learning, and the confidence people need to rebuild their lives and move forward.
Sanctuary Hosting has already had a very active start to 2026. Since the beginning of January, 13 guests have been hosted, and seven have already been able to move on into longer-term accommodation. We have also recently welcomed two new hosting households and four new guest buddies to the service — a really positive and encouraging development.
Each move-on represents something significant: someone settling into a new home, starting work, or beginning to rebuild their independence.
At the same time, we know the need is growing. In the coming weeks we are planning to welcome more guests who have no recourse to public funds into Sanctuary Hosting. These guests are likely to need support for longer periods, although — as always — we will work to move people on at regular intervals wherever possible, creating space for others in urgent need.
