Day 14
Hosnieh’s story…
Councillor Dr Hosnieh Djafari-Marbini is Oxford City Council’s Migrants Champion and a longstanding supporter of Asylum Welcome.
Here she reflects on the inspiration behind – and success of – the Sanctuary Wheels project.
Sanctuary Wheels is a partnership project involving Asylum Welcome, Cyclox and Active Oxfordshire, working with Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and many community organisations across the county, to provide bikes, lights, locks, helmets and translated tuition for hundreds of refugees across Oxfordshire.
So far, the project has been a tremendous success helping to collect, fix and distribute 300+ bikes to people who neeed them!

To be continued…
In 2021/22, Asylum Welcome supported 60% more clients than the year before with a wider range of services and a bigger budget than at any time in our history. We couldn’t do it without you. 🧡
As the national environment gets ever tougher for many of our clients and others like them, fleeing violence and persecution in so many countries, it is ever more important that we continue and extend our work.
