Day 11

Armin’s story…

Struggling to balance his studies at Oxford Brookes University with the work required to pursue his asylum claim, Amin decided to contact Asylum Welcome for help.

Our employment, advice and volunteer services worked together to support that was holistic and thorough. The advice service referred him to a legal representative, assisted him with a hosting application for accommodation and confirmed he could continue to work after his student visa expired.

The employment service helped him to create a CV and apply for relevant jobs.

Meanwhile, Armin volunteered for our Welcome Desk and laptop project, which he found both useful and rewarding.

Armin was successful in his job application and is now working in his area of expertise. He was recently awarded refugee status and is supporting himself in private accommodation.

To be continued…

In 2021/22, Asylum Welcome supported 60% more clients than the year before with a wider range of services and a bigger budget than at any time in our history. We couldn’t do it without you. 🧡

As the national environment gets ever tougher for many of our clients and others like them, fleeing violence and persecution in so many countries, it is ever more important that we continue and extend our work.

If you can, please support our appeal today. Thank you for being part of the story.
