Asylum Welcome is amazing. Our small staff team and volunteers support asylum seekers, refugees, and vulnerable migrants, who seek refuge in Oxford. We provide everything from food and clothes to advice, visits, legal support, education, and assistance finding employment.

To further strengthen our governance, we are seeking to appoint individuals to our Board who have lived experience of being a refugee, an asylum-seeker or of migration.

  • Develop and share your skills: Becoming a Trustee will help you to use and further develop a wide range of important skills and an opportunity to network, share with and learn from other professionals in Oxford.

  • Share your perspective: You will be able to contribute your ideas, experience and valuable insights, helping the charity to maximise its social impact and improve its services to clients.

  • Give back locally:Take the opportunity to be involved in representing refugee and asylum issues and help us actively tackle these in order to make Oxfordshire a better and more welcoming city for everyone.

We are looking for people who have:

  • A commitment to the rights and welfare of refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants and to Asylum Welcome’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Lived experience and knowledge of the refugee experience, personally or through close family relationships.
  • Experience of developing good relationships with people and be able to work in a team.
  • The desire and ability to contribute a few hours a month to help guide the organisation to better assist refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants.

Please note that trustee roles are not paid.
