Asylum Welcome is a registered charity, number 1092265. We are completely dependent on voluntary donations to fund our vital services.
For the first few years, Asylum Welcome derived its income from donations made by a wide range of individuals. In-kind support included providing advice and information, for example about benefits and local schools, and accompanying clients to appointments such as a bail hearing.
Trusts and foundations
Asylum Welcome raises the majority of our funds through the generous support of trusts and foundations. We are very grateful to all the trusts and foundations that fund our vital work, and particularly those who have been loyal supporters for many years.
Fundraising events and appeal
Over the years, Asylum Welcome has become increasingly successful in raising funds through appeals to our growing band of supporters. For example, each December, we organise a seasonal appeal, which provides our main source of much-needed unrestricted funding. Between 2006 and 2008 the appeal raised a total of £30,000.
We have also forged strong links with some local companies. They have supplied us with funds, equipment for our football team, educational grants, English language teaching material, office equipment, computers, food for our Food Cupboard Project and for events. In addition, we provide work experience placements for their staff, which has been particularly useful in developing Asylum Welcome’s capacity and knowledge in the areas of marketing, human relations and IT. Some companies also provide a team for the Asylum Welcome football team to play with.
